Public talk by artists from USA
On the May 24th in Anna Nova gallery will be the public talk by artists from USA Blane De St. Croix and Diana Shpungin. Who are in the residence CEC ArtsLink in St.Petersburg. Artists will tell about their projects and experience of residence.
Blane De St. Croix’s work explores the geopolitical landscape through sculpture, installation, and work on paper. His research based method incorporates on the ground site visits, aerial fly-overs, photographic documentation, interviews, internet mining, and satellite imagery. Together, his artworks and research seek to facilitate an increased understanding of the shared social, political, environmental, and cultural climate challenges we face, both within our local communities, and in the international arena.
Diana Shpungin’s working method encompasses drawing, sculpture and hand drawn video animation under an acutely conceptual framework. Examining themes of memory, myth, failure, longing, mortality, loss and apprenticeship, Shpungin’s artwork employs a painstaking and obsessive process while seeking empathy across identity lines.
