Come to Anna Nova Gallery to see the works by contemporary artists in the open storage format till July 28. Most of them, including the ones by Andrey Kuzkin, Alexandra Gart, Petr Dyakov, Uldus Bakhtiozina, Fedor Hiroshige, and Denis Patrakeev will be showcased for the first time ever.
Traditionally, storage processes taking place in galleries remain unseen by the visitors. After leaving the studio of a contemporary artist, not every work of art has a chance to get its cherished 15 minutes of glory. Often, they stay in the storage mode. Hung on metals railing, hidden in a shelf, put into folders or packed away in air-bubble film, many works have to wait for the moment when they can once again get into the spotlight – in a new exhibition, project, or collection.
Anna Nova possesses one of the biggest gallery storages. Established in 2012 as a small venue with mobile art racks, today it is an extensive infrastructure where 3,500+ works of art are stored safe and sound. During the open storage project, the main exhibition venue of the Gallery will present a selection of art objects that feature different media – from graphics and sculpture to video and photography.
The exhibition is arranged to show the visitors systems and processes that are usually hidden from view. Shelves and racks, the graphics room, photographing procedures, and other auxiliary tools – all these typical means have been used to arrange the exhibition space. The open storage format facilitates the synthesis of the exhibition and storage functions of the Gallery which are usually mutually exclusive. Thanks to this, the audience can see the works that have been unavailable and also feel the specific character of activities that nearly always are behind-the-scenes.
During the open storage event, a special public program will be arranged with tours guided by the Gallery workers plus the art mediation series. To buy a ticket and attend the events please follow the link: https://anna-nova-gallery.timepad.ru/events/
