Works by Piotr Diakov and Vlad Kulkov at the Arsenal exhibition

On November 24, 2023, the exhibition 'Named  Vasari.Mannerism' was opened in the Volga-Vyatka branch of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts (Nizhny Novgorod – Arsenal). 

The exhibition will feature works by European masters of the XVI – early XVII centuries and works by modern Russian artists who drew inspiration from mannerist art: bronze sculptures by Pioter Diakov 'Beth' and 'Untitled', as well as paintings by Vlad Kulkov from the series 'Portraits of Stones'. Other participants of the project include Olya Austreich, Konstantin Batynkov, Evgeny Voynar, Ekaterina Gerasimenko, Angelina Ermachkova, Sveta Isaeva, Egor Koshelev, Boris Makarov, Daria Neretina, Vitaly Pushnitsky, Artur Samofalov, Ivan Yazykov, Kirill Garshin.

Curators Daria Kolpashnikova and Ekaterina Kochetkova offer the viewer to learn about the art of mannerism by examining the details of the home life of representatives of the upper classes of Italy of the XVI century. The sections of the exhibition refer to the spaces of a private house — the library and the house chapel, the state salon, the boudoir and the garden. The nature of these spaces provided an opportunity for a more frank and in-depth dialogue, and the house itself became a refuge from a restless and changeable world.
