ARTISTS FROM ANNA NOVA GALLERY AT HIDDEN EXHIBITION IN THIRD PLACE

WORKS BY ANDREY KUZKIN AND HAIM SOKOL ARE SHOWCASED THERE

HIDDEN project curated by Anna Zhurba is presented in the Guriev-Naryshkin Mansion. The exposition was inspired by HIDDEN film directed by Michael Haneke from Austria. The audience are invited to answer the questions asked in the film - about hard-to-make moral choices, refusing to accept the mistakes you’ve made, nature of relations with other people, and being afraid of them. In the project, the very space of the exhibition communicates with the exposition and the film, which offers a new take on all the three of them.

The works put on display at HIDDEN cover nearly 30 years of the Russian contemporary art history, and some of the pieces were specially made for this event. Here, visitors will see both formal experiments made by contemporary artists and their engagement with the history of arts, as well as pondering on the history of humanity, family, or society, or humans’ part in today’s life.

The exhibition is participated by AES+F, Liza Bobkova, Evgeny Granilshchikov, Katya Isaeva, Andrey Kuzkin, Olesya Lavrinenko, Ivan Novikov, Mika Plutitskaya, Ruslan Polanin, Vladimir Potapov, Sergey Prokofiev, Igor Samolet, Haim Sokol, and Anastasia Tsaider.

In particular, Andrey Kuzkin’s metal boxes from his EVERYTHING’S AHEAD project and Haim Sokol’s CURTAIN and SPARTAK works are showcased.

The exhibition is opened through December 8, 2024.
